Frequently asked questions
Is e-invoicing really mandatory for my business?
Since 1 January 2026, structured electronic invoicing has been required for Belgian domestic B2B transactions covered by the mandate. The small-business VAT exemption alone does not exclude a business. Exceptions exist: check our guide and official sources for your situation.
Is a PDF sent by email enough?
For a transaction covered by the Belgian B2B mandate, a PDF sent by email does not replace a structured electronic invoice. A PDF can remain a readable supplement. B2C transactions and other situations outside this mandate follow their own rules.
What happens if I'm not compliant?
Penalties may apply. For lacking the technical means to send and receive structured invoices, the specified amounts are €1,500, €3,000 and then €5,000. How breaches are established and statutory intervals matter. An incorrect invoice does not automatically remove the right to deduct VAT. See the sourced guide for the conditions.
How do I get started with Peppol?
Create your free account, enter your business details and follow Peppol registration in OrdoGrid. If you already receive through another tool, check the switching procedure first. Activation and delivery also depend on the network providers.
Is the free plan time-limited?
No, it's free forever and requires no credit card. You receive unlimited Peppol invoices and send one per month. Paid plans are monthly with no commitment.
Can I change plans at any time?
You can choose another plan from your billing area. Check the displayed price and conditions before confirming. The free plan remains available with no time limit; paid plans offer a 14-day trial.
