For consultants, agencies and studios
Turn project hours into an invoice you can check.
Keep tasks, tracked time and client invoices together. Record hours with a timer or manual entries, review the work, then prepare an invoice from completed, unbilled sessions. Projects and time tracking are included in Business.

A billing routine for work you track
Set the client, currency and rates
Create the project and link its client. Set a project hourly rate, with a different task rate where needed. The rate is captured when a timer stops or a manual entry is saved; changing it later does not reprice completed sessions.
Record and review completed work
Use the timer or add hours manually. Stop running timers and check the unbilled time against your agreement with the client. Obtain any required client approval outside OrdoGrid.
Prepare and check the invoice
Bill time groups completed, billable, unbilled sessions by task and captured rate. Review the client, descriptions, quantities, prices, service date and VAT before saving. Add a fixed fee or expenses manually when appropriate.
Send, then follow up separately
Send the checked invoice using the available delivery channel and follow Peppol progress in the Outbox. Saving the invoice marks its time as invoiced; network delivery does not mean the customer has approved or paid it.
Know what Bill time includes
- The project action takes all completed, billable, unbilled sessions for every team member. Use a task’s document flow when billing one task; a running timer or time outside a project is excluded.
- The time-entry editor has no per-session switch for internal work. Keep non-chargeable time in a separate internal project so it does not enter the client invoice.
- Fixed, T&M and Mixed are tracking labels. They do not automatically calculate a fixed fee, enforce a budget cap or schedule invoices.
- Saving a draft locks its billed time. Deleting an unissued draft releases that time; an issued invoice follows the correction or credit-note process.

Questions about project billing
- Can I invoice a day rate or a fixed fee?
- Yes, enter the agreed quantity and price on an ordinary invoice, or add a manual line to a time-based invoice. Bill time itself uses recorded hours and captured hourly rates; it does not convert hours into days or milestones.
- Can the client approve a timesheet in OrdoGrid?
- This workflow does not provide a client timesheet-approval portal. Agree and record approval through your existing process, then check the hours before creating the invoice.
- Can I send the invoice over Peppol?
- Business includes Peppol sending and receiving. Complete the company’s Peppol setup and check the customer’s details and routing before sending. The first-invoice guide explains the steps and how to read the result.
- Do I need Business to invoice consulting work?
- Business is needed for Projects and tracked-time billing. You can invoice consulting services manually with Free within its monthly sending limit, or with Starter for unlimited sending.
