Choose around sending, receiving and your accountant's workflow. OrdoGrid Free includes unlimited Peppol receiving and one outgoing invoice per month; Billit's free licence covers sales invoices only. Compare paid allowances and the full billing period before deciding.
Before you begin
- Monthly counts of sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes and receipts
- Your accountant's required delivery format
- Your present Peppol receiving provider, if any
What you will achieve
- Choose a suitable free or paid starting point
- Compare document allowances and billing terms fairly
- Run the same workflow and export checks in both products
- Plan receiving continuity before switching

OrdoGrid and Billit can both serve Belgian Peppol invoicing, but their free offers solve different needs. Start with the number of invoices you send, whether you need a receiving inbox, and how your accountant gets the originals. A free sending tool and a free receiving plan are different offers.
Start with your actual workflow
| Your need | A sensible starting point |
|---|---|
| Receive supplier invoices and send at most one invoice each month | Check OrdoGrid Free's allowance and storage against your needs. |
| Send sales invoices while another service already handles receiving | Consider Billit's free sending licence; verify what your existing receiving arrangement includes. |
| Send more than one invoice each month | Compare OrdoGrid Starter with a Billit paid allowance based on all your document types. |
| Automate recurring billing or reminders | Examine Billit's advertised workflows and test your actual schedule. Do not assume OrdoGrid has the same automation. |
| Invoice tracked project time or integrate an API | Examine OrdoGrid Business and request Billit's applicable workflow and integration terms. |
| Your accountant already has a working Billit process | Test that handover first; saving a small subscription amount may not justify extra monthly handling. |
These are selection suggestions, not a ranking. For a broader selection method, use the Belgian software buyer's checklist.
Free plan versus paid trial
| Question | OrdoGrid | Billit |
|---|---|---|
| Continuing free offer | Free forever; no credit card required | Free licence for sales invoices |
| Peppol receiving on Free | Unlimited receiving; 1 GB document storage | Not included in the free sending licence |
| Peppol sending on Free | One outgoing invoice per month | Sales-invoice sending; see the vendor's free-licence conditions |
| Credit notes and email sending | Starter or Business required | Check the required licence for your correction and sending workflow |
| Paid-plan trial | 14 days, separate from continuing Free | 15-day trial of the paid capabilities |
Billit's sending manual distinguishes the free licence from its trial and excludes receiving from that continuing free offer. Do not evaluate either product only during a trial that temporarily unlocks extra capabilities.
For OrdoGrid, unlimited receiving does not mean unlimited storage or unlimited free sending. If you sometimes issue two sales invoices in one month, include a paid plan in the decision even if your yearly total is small.
Compare the paid allowance and the billing period
| Offer | Published price basis | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| OrdoGrid Starter | €9/month excluding VAT | Unlimited outgoing Peppol invoicing, one user, 5 GB; no projects/time or API |
| OrdoGrid Business | €59/month excluding VAT | Projects/time, bank import/reconciliation, Stripe payment capability and API; one location included |
| Billit entry paid tier | 25 documents/month; €6.90/month displayed with annual payment and €7.50/month in the nonannual offer | Purchase and sales documents count together; confirm the available billing interval and VAT treatment in your quotation |
Billit's pricing page counts invoices, credit notes and receipts, whether sent or received. Its allowance is managed across the licence period and extra usage is billed. The displayed monthly equivalent does not establish that the entry tier can be bought one month at a time. Confirm the initial charge and renewal interval; our public-page check did not establish its VAT-inclusive checkout total.
For OrdoGrid Business, an additional location costs €50/month excluding VAT. Payment-processing fees and any external services are separate from a software subscription. See the full OrdoGrid plan table before choosing.
Work through a representative month
Write down your own counts instead of comparing only outgoing invoices. For example, one sales invoice and twelve purchase invoices are thirteen documents before any receipts or credit notes. Then ask each vendor to price that same workload, including users, the busiest expected period and the billing commitment.
OrdoGrid Free can be a starting point for this example if the one outgoing invoice and storage allowance are sufficient. If you also need to issue a credit note or send by email, evaluate Starter. For Billit, ask how the example fits the selected licence and what happens after an unusually busy period. This avoids a misleading claim that one product is always cheaper.
Workflow differences worth testing
Billit advertises recurring invoices, automatic reminders and a bank connection on its paid offer. Those can matter more than a small price difference when they remove a recurring task. Check your bank, accountant and actual reminder rules rather than assuming every connection works for every account.
OrdoGrid Business brings projects, tracked time and invoicing into one workspace. Starter serves ordinary invoicing without those Business capabilities. An example of invoicing tracked time helps you decide whether that workflow is useful to you. OrdoGrid is not a promise to replace your accountant or a tax-return service.
For software integration, OrdoGrid's public business API requires Business. Billit documents API connection options too: do not mark API as absent simply because it is not described in a short pricing card. Check the actual endpoints, authentication, delivery feedback and commercial terms with each vendor.
Run the same acceptance checklist
Use a demonstration or saved draft first. A live Peppol send creates a real delivery; OrdoGrid has no Peppol sandbox. Only send a genuine invoice once you intend to issue it, and never send the same test invoice from both products.
- Create the same draft. Include your normal VAT treatment, customer reference, payment details and document language. Check the structured fields as well as the readable preview.
- Prove receiving. Establish which provider currently receives for your company. Use a demonstration until a receiving move has been agreed.
- Check corrections. Ask how a credit note is created, linked and sent, and whether your chosen plan includes it.
- Read the statuses. Find network delivery separately from a customer's business response and from payment. A successful send is not proof that an invoice has been paid.
- Hand over originals. Give your accountant an example export and ask them to confirm they can use it. Billit documents UBL/XML and PDF company exports. In OrdoGrid, check Outbox downloads and received XML or a selected-document ZIP from Inbox.
- Price the tested setup. Record the licence, users, document allowance, storage, external charges, billing period and cancellation effective date. Keep the vendor's dated answer alongside your trial notes.
Switching: preserve records and receiving continuity
Before moving, export the documents and supporting records you still need from your current product. Do not assume that downloading files means the new product can import the full history or recreate old statuses. Verify one representative file and the accounting handover before cancelling access.
Agree the receiving cut-over with both providers. Creating an account alone does not establish where supplier invoices arrive. OrdoGrid currently uses deregistration followed by registration rather than a migration-key transfer; coordinate the sequence and verify incoming delivery afterwards. Use the access-point switching guide for the detailed checks.
If OrdoGrid fits your workload, start with Free or compare the paid plans. For the product steps, continue with Peppol setup and accountant handover. If Billit's established accounting process or automation fits better, test that route against the same acceptance checklist.
